LaGrange, IN - Wayne B. Gonser, 66, of LaGrange, IN, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN. Wayne was born on May 21, 1959, in LaGrange, IN, to Walter D. and Mary Lou (Douglas) Gonser, who preceded him in death. A lifelong resident of LaGrange and DeKalb Counties, Wayne worked in several capacities throughout his career. He was employed in roadway maintenance on the Indiana Toll Road, worked in the security department at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn, and in service department for Helmkamp Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep in both LaGrange and Auburn. He also owned and operated with his sister Jackie, Route 20 Antiques in LaGrange for several years. Wayne proudly served with the LaGrange Sheriff's Department and the LaGrange Fire Department. He was affectionately known as "Boog-a-loo" by his fire station family. He enjoyed attending knife and gun shows, spending time fishing, and had a deep love for animals-especially his beloved dogs and cats. Wayne loved old cars and could often be found out buying and selling them. On October 18, 1997, at the LaGrange Church of God, he married Mary E. (Steininger) Clabaugh; Mrs. Gonser survives in LaGrange. Also surviving are his daughter, Amy (Richard) Adams of Elkhart, IN; a stepdaughter, Courtney (Bill) Lester of Kendallville, IN; a sister, Jackie Easterday of LaGrange, IN; a niece, Mary Easterday of Florida; a nephew, James (Alison) Easterday of Howe, IN; and two great-nieces, McKayla and Madison Easterday. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, IN.
