WAYNE C. GRIFFITH, of Woburn, passed away peacefully at his home, amongst his beloved family, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the age of 72.
Born in Somerville, Wayne was the son of the late Gordon Griffith and Nancy (Adams) Griffith. He was raised and educated locally; he graduated from Stoneham High School with the Class of 1970, continuing his studies at Wentworth Institute.
Wayne began working at United Parcel Service over 43 years ago. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and friendly personality. Wayne was the beloved husband of 48 years to Barbara E. (Siraco) Griffith. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and countless cherished memories.
Outside of work, Wayne was deeply involved in the Woburn community. He not only helped to begin the starter hockey program with Woburn Youth Hockey, but also coached several teams and helped to begin a girls' hockey team, along with spending time coaching at Belmont Hill, which he did up until five years ago. Wayne loved the sport and passed that on to his son and daughter, who played throughout their school years. He took great pride in mentoring these young athletes and formed truly lasting relationships with the families along the way.
When it came time for family summer vacations, Wayne loved going to Wells Beach, Maine. Whether it was weeks at a time or even just for a day, Wells Beach it was! Another one of Wayne's traditions over the years was the family's annual trips to Disney World. This was a place he truly loved and looked forward to visiting each year. In recent years, the greatest trips there were with his dear grandchildren, who shared the same excitement and joy during their visits.
Above all, Wayne loved his family. He treasured the time shared with his wife Barbara, the love of his life for over forty-eight years, and embraced his roles as "Dad" and "Papa," titles he wore with immense pride.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Wayne is survived by his loving children, Douglas A. Griffith and his wife Kelly of Burlington, and Ashley Griffith of Woburn; along with his cherished grandchildren, Ruthie and Rose.
He was the dear brother of Debbie Johansson and her late husband Frank of GA, Marilyn Pagliuca and her husband Patrick of Medfield, Penny Belmonte and her husband Joe of Reading, David Griffith and his wife Sheenah of NH, and the late Brian Griffith. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours in the funeral home on Friday, April 17 from 4–7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, April 18 at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
