Wayne Harding Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John V. Morris Family Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 21, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.

Mr. Wayne A. Harding, 81, a resident of Binghamton, New York passed peacefully Friday, the afternoon of December 19th as a patient of the Post Acute Medical Health Specialty Hospital of Wilkes-Barre, following a recent illness.

Born on Tuesday, July 18, 1944 in Binghamton, he was a son to the late George Hobart and Esther (Webb) Hobart-Harding and Norman Harding. Educated in the city schools, he attended North High School of Binghamton.

Wayne lived a life marked by dedication to his family and community.

Devoted to his Christian faith, he was a member of the R.B. Theme Bible Ministries home study devotionals for more than fifty years.

Following his formal education, Mr. Harding proudly served our country during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy; instilling in him the values of honor and commitment which he carried throughout his life.

Upon his return home, he held a number of positions, including becoming self-employed as the owner and operator of several dry cleaners in the Binghamton area. For the last two and a half decades, he was a dedicated school bus driver for the Laidlaw / First Student Bus Line, where he became a trusted figure to countless children and their families. His warm smile and caring nature made him a beloved presence in the lives he touched, both on and off the bus.

Mr. Harding loved music. In his spare time, he played the saxophone and keyboards. He also loved playing billiards or a round of golf.

Family was paramount to Wayne. He and his wife, the former Theresa (Bolebruch) Harding celebrated sixty-two years of married life on June 22nd of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Esther and by his stepfather Norman. He also bid farewell to an infant son, Wayne Anthony Harding in 1964; a great-grandson, Avery Jones in 2019 and his aunt who helped raise him, Ms. Alecia Webb.

Left to cherish all the memories they keep of him in addition to his wife Theresa at home are the couple's children; Debbie Cole and her husband Kevin of Kirkwood, NY; Wayne D. Harding, Binghamton, NY; Teresa Johnson and her husband Ben of the Baltimore, MD area and Phillip Harding along with his fiancé, Shelly of Binghamton, NY; Ten grandchildren; Jason, Mitchell, Nathan, Jacobus, Maxwell, Nadia, Estelle, Damon, Helena, and Lorel. Four great-grandchildren; Wyatt, Tyrel Jr., Jackson, and Marcel; Numerous cousins, former student passengers and dear friends.

Per his previous request, funeral services for Mr. Harding will be held privately and at the convenience of his family with no formal visitation.

The John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc. of Wilkes-Barre is honored to care for Mr. Harding and his family at this time. Those wishing to share online words of comfort or a fond memory of Wayne with his family, are encouraged to do so here on his memorial page. Thank You.

I've known Wayne for over 40 years and played pool with him often. He was a man of character, that always honored his word. Pool isn't about winning and losing, it's about having fun. Wayne and I had our share. He will surely be missed.
