Wayne Harrison Obituary
He was a son of Marie & Donald Harrison and youngest brother to Dianne Lyckberg who all preceded him in death. Surviving are his older brother Donald & his wife Lorraine and their children David, Katherine, Daniel and Suzanne & their respective spouses & children; his brother-in-law William Lyckberg; and niece Christina Gensler & husband Jon and their children.
Wayne grew up in Elizabeth, NJ, but always considered Vermont his home where he spent the lion share of his life living and working for the U.S. Postal service.
Wayne was proud to be a U.S. veteran with the Seabees (U.S. Navy's construction battalion) and told the story that he built a stage for Bob Hope to perform during the Vietnam War, but never got to see him perform because he got sent to rebuild a blown up bridge. Wayne was very well read and loved photography, U.S. History, science, the Vermont mountains and "going down the shore".
Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

I met Wayne forty years ago when I was hired as a clerk at the Scotch Plains NJ Post Office. He was friendly, welcoming, and we quickly discovered that we shared a similarly dark sense of humor. When he was promoted to supervisor, I took over his position as accountable mails clerk.
Wayne was also a very talented photographer, and when my folk-rock trio needed some publicity photos, he took us to the hills of Watchung and got some great shots of the band.
We remained good friends after he moved to Vermont, and had some great times together, even scaling Mt. Mansfield, the highest peak in the state! Wayne stood on the little 2´x2´ platform at the very peak (which, at the time, had no guardrails) and said, "You´ve GOTTA check out this view!" Not being as brave as Wayne, I stood about 10 feet away and said "Nah, I´m good here."
My deepest condolences to his family and friends. And much gratitude to his niece Christina, for taking care of him so well in recent years.
