February 8, 1938 - January 5, 2026
Wayne A. Hester, 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 5, 2026.
A Husker and Lincoln Northeast basketball standout, Wayne was born February 8, 1938 in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Glen and Grace Hester. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1956, University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1961 and later received his MBA from Creighton University. He married his high school sweetheart Nancy Preston Hester in 1960. Wayne was a veteran of the US Army and went on to a career in corporate finance in Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy. He is survived by his son, Randy (children Stefan and Annika); and his daughter, Christy (son Spencer); his brother, Melvin Hester (Cheri); and numerous family and friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Lincoln, Neb.
Memorials may be made to Belmont Community Center, Lincoln Neb.
