Wayne Hilbun Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home - Dublin on Aug. 27, 2025.
Wayne Clark Hilbun, age 61, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, in his hometown of East Dublin, Georgia.

Wayne was born June 9, 1964, in Dublin, Georgia and grew up in a loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. and Jessie Gibson Hilbun. Wayne dedicated many years of his life as a skilled fixer in the maintenance department of Mohawk Industries, where he was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. Outside of work, Wayne was attending Liberty Baptist Church. His love for the church and its congregation was evident in his active participation and his desire to serve others.

An outstanding athlete, Wayne relished the days when he played softball, golf, and football. His passion for sports was more than just a hobby; it was a way for him to connect with friends, challenge himself, and enjoy the camaraderie that comes from team play. Those who knew him on the field admired his competitive spirit and his sportsmanship.

Above all, Wayne was a man with a heart of gold. He was always willing to help others, often putting their needs above his own. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was the kind of person who would give even if it left him with nothing. Wayne's legacy is one of courage and selflessness-a beacon of light for all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his sister and her husband, Anita H. and Frank Barfield of Dublin; his niece, Candace (Spencer) Hartley of New Iberia, LA; his nephews, Justin (Sarah) Adkins of Dudley and Jonathon (Shianne) Adkins of Wrightsville; and his brother and best friend, Donnie (Rhonda) Baker of East Dublin. His great-nieces and great-nephews, Kamdyn Warnock, Maeleigh Hartley, Emerson Adkins, Blake Adkins, and Stevie Adkins, also held a special place in his heart.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Dublin Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donnie Baker and Rev. Frank Barfield officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the funeral home.
