Valeska L. Hilbun, 71, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at her residence.
She was born August 10, 1953, in Lafayette, to the late John and Dolores (Ratcliff) Harris.
Valeska graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School with the class of 1971 and attended Purdue University.
Her marriage was to J. Kenneth Hilbun and he survives.
Valeska worked for Lafayette Life for many years in the policy service area. She became a CASA volunteer on October 12, 2006 until present, in 2014 was awarded the Margaret J. Hahn Child Advocate Award, 2007 the Community Service Excellent Award and in 2017 was named the GAL/CASA Volunteer of the Year. She was also active in the youth ministry at Brady Lane Church.
Surviving with her husband, J. Kenneth Hilbun of Lafayette is a son, Jonathan R. (significant other Julie Plue) Hilbun of Rossville, two stepsons, Patric K. (wife Angie) Hilbun and Andrew J. (wife Stacey) Hilbun both of Lafayette, two brothers, William (wife Julie) Harris of Lafayette and John R. Harris of Delton, MI, and a sister, Rebecca S. (husband Rich) Crowell of Delton, MI. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Jordyn (fiancée Jaedan Vanaman) Hilbun.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Jeff Keller officiating. A private burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute in her name to the CASA For Kids Fund.
