Wayne Walter Hinkle, 80, of Penn Township, Hesston, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Penn Highlands Huntingdon, after a previous illness. Born June 4, 1943, in Three Springs, he was a son of the late Kenneth C. and Evaline E. (Garner) Hinkle. He was united in marriage to the former Diane Ruth Hess on February 19, 1962. His loving wife of 61 years survives at their residence.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Lisa McKim and her husband, David, of Huntingdon, Melissa Wimbush of Hesston, Kimberly Guyer and her husband, Chris, of McAlisterville, Sondra Vasilinda and her significant other, Andy Molchany, of Johnstown, and Kenneth Hinkle and his wife, Christina, of Huntingdon; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four siblings, Kenneth G. Hinkle, Kayleen Bair and her husband, Jerry, Betty Mae Hess and her husband, Bob, and Janet Madden. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Craig Wimbush and Susan Eaken; and two brothers, Jim Hinkle and Gary Hinkle.
Mr. Hinkle was first employed in the logging industry. He began his career at Henry Summers sawmill; and then became employed by Parks Lumber Company of Allensville. Next, he began working for K.W. Reese, Inc. of Mercersburg; and later was hired by T.L. Long Excavating, Martinsburg; where he retired in 2008.
Wayne had a passion for the outdoors; and enjoyed hunting, riding his 4-wheeler, and spending time in the woods. He also loved watching westerns, NASCAR™ races, and football. Above all, he adored spending time with his family and friends.
At the request of Mr. Hinkle, there will be no public visitation or services. A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will take place in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in remembrance of Wayne W. Hinkle may be made to the John B. Brown Funeral Home, P.O. Box 242, Huntingdon, PA 16652, to assist with final expenses.
