Wayne Holcombe
Easley, SC
Mr. Teddy Wayne Holcombe, 74, husband of Mary Lavern Lesley Holcombe, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, March 12, 2023.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Joseph Ralph Holcombe and the late Syble Waldrop Holcombe, Mr. Holcombe retired as Assistant Chief with the Easley Fire Department after twenty-five years of service. He was the owner and operator of Holcombe's Deer Processing. For fifteen years, Wayne ran and operated concessions that were eventually named Ampa's Ice Cream. He was a faithful member of Landmark Baptist Church and was a US Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era.
Wayne loved his church and his Lord, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and his grandchildren knew him as "AmPa". He loved the outdoors and was an avid hog hunter and fisherman.
He will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew him.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty years, are his son, Danny "Buddy" Wayne Holcombe (Christiana) of Easley; his daughter, Kim Holcombe Porter (Kevin) of Pickens; and his five grandchildren, Evan Wayne Porter, Sara Porter, McKenly Holcombe, Erabella Holcombe, and Meadow Holcombe.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Landmark Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM Thursday at the church, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Wayne to the Glassy Mountain View Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 572, Pickens, SC 29671.
