Wayne Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harrell Funeral Home - Dublin on Feb. 16, 2026.
Wayne Newton Jones was 90. He passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, 2:44 AM while visiting my wife and I (Rick and wife Brenda), in Bedford, Texas, his loving family by his side.

He was born on August 19, 1935, to Granddad, Dave and Grandmother, Maudie Jones, in their home in Knott (a small farming community), located in Howard County, Texas. He resided at 124 County Road 516, Dublin, Texas 76446.

He was preceded in death by 5 weeks, by his wife of 71 years, our mother, Frankie Jo "Patsy" Jones.

He is survived by myself, Ricky Jones, sons Jason, his wife Kristi and their family, and Jeremy, his fiancé Jessica and her daughters (Kristen and Carlee), and my wife, Brenda, and our sons Jonathan, his wife Megan, and daughter, Hannah & Jesse, his wife Libby, son Thorin, and daughter Zelda; His son Terry Jones, wife Samantha and their son Matthew, his wife Kayla, and sons Justin and Nicholas – Justin has 2 sons - Cayden and Gunner. Terry also has a son, Joshua and two daughters, Stephanie & Shereen and their families; And his daughter Dianna, and Dianna's daughters Jerilynn and Ali.

Mom and Dad came to the Lord later in life. First mom, then dad followed. He loved mother, so he followed mom to her Pentecostal church, and being raised Baptist, he often referred to himself as a "Bapticostal." He was a man with a singular focus, a strong will, and an unshakable belief in God.

Many of us knew dad as someone who knew exactly what he wanted and pursued it relentlessly. He didn't conform to the expectations of others, and in a world that often asks us to compromise - dad never did. He was a private man, and he carried his own weight and expected others to do the same.

He came from a large family and is the last of the Jones brothers - with Aunt Joyce, still living at 96, as being the last matriarch. Like mother, his passing leaves a vast void in our hearts and he is loved and missed beyond words. But he is with mama and his Lord and all the loved ones that have been waiting for him. One day, we will all be together again. We love you, Daddy.

Services will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Harrell Memorial Chapel at 11:00am with interment to follow at the Erath Gardens of Memory.
