Wayne Koble Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. - Cranberry Twp on Jun. 10, 2025.
Wayne Mead Koble, of Ingomar, PA, passed away surrounded by family on June 6, 2025, following a brief illness.
Born in Pittsburgh on December 12, 1950, Wayne was raised in Marshall Township and graduated from North Allegheny High School. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam as a Morse code interceptor with the Army Security Agency. He later served at Kagnew Station in Ethiopia, where he helped gather intelligence on Soviet military activity in the region. His military decorations include the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal.
After his honorable discharge, Wayne attended Slippery Rock University on the G.I. Bill, where he met the love of his life, Robin (née Campbell). They were happily married for 49 years.
Wayne built a successful career in the investment industry, eventually serving as Chief Investment Officer for Trust Investments in PNC Bank's Erie region. He was also deeply committed to community service and served as a longtime board member and past Chair of both Erie Homes for Children and Adults (EHCA) and Stairways Behavioral Health.
Wayne was a devoted husband and loving father to his three children: Nathan, Brian (Suzanne), and Kelly. His greatest joy was time with family-hosting cookouts at McConnell's Mill, attending his children's sporting events, walking the beach at Lake Erie, and exploring small towns and cities on weekends. In retirement, Wayne returned to the Pittsburgh area, where he enjoyed watching Pirates games and cherishing time with his grandchildren.
Wayne was a devoted Christian whose faith was evident in the kindness and respect he showed to everyone he met. He attended Franklin Park Baptist Church. In addition to his wife and children, Wayne is survived by his brother, Bruce Koble of Thornton, New Hampshire, and by five beloved grandchildren: Felicity, Peter, Mary Emma, James, and Anastasia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Helen (Fletcher) Koble, and his stepmother, Dolores (Kirby) Koble.
A memorial service will be held at Franklin Park Baptist Church, 2470 Nicholson Rd, Sewickley, PA, on Saturday, June 21, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
Memorial donations may be made to a veterans organization of your choice.

I am sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. We had spoken not too long ago and that we would be coming to PGH this fall. Wayne and I have known each other since sixth grade and he says that my letters to him while he was in the service gave him great joy. We will all miss him.

Robin, Nathan, Brian and Kelly, and the rest of the family,

I am so so sorry for and saddened by the loss of your husband/father/grandfather. He was a wonderful friend, and the kind of person that we need more of on this planet! I am sure he is in heaven, so my prayers will be for all of you during this very difficult time.
