Goldsboro - Wayne Daniel Lancaster, 86, passed away on Thursday afternoon at Pitt Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. Wayne was born in Wayne County on May 9, 1924 to the late Charles M. Lancaster and Etta Evans Lancaster. He retired from Griffin Exterminating after 20 years of service. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Murray officiating. Wayne is survived by his wife, Virginia Thornton Lancaster; his daughter, Barbara Ann Aycock and husband E.L. of Pikeville; his son, Carl Lancaster and wife Darcy of Goldsboro; his sister, Mary Mitchell of Arapohoe; three grandchildren, Katherine A. Rogerson and husband, Jim, Richard Aycock and wife, Christi, and Carly Lancaster; four great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Harold Wayne Lancaster; his sisters, Ethel Keen, Jeanette Jones and Helene VanHoy, and his brothers, Charles M. Lancaster, Carl Lancaster and Thurman Lancaster. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to WAGES - Meals on Wheels, 601 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058.
