Wayne E. Lavender, 85, passed away January 2, 2022. He was born in Donora, PA to the late Thomas and Dorothy (Brooks) Lavender and was a proud veteran of the Army and Marine Corps for 22 years.
Wayne was a fixed-wing aircraft pilot as well as a wide array of helicopters, and was an instructor of both. He enjoyed doing puzzles and puzzle books and watching old movies, and walking the MetroParks with his wife for 37 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, Wayne, whom he called Butch. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Judith; children, Dale (Lora), Lori (Steve) Swanick and Jody (Tim) Simpson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home and Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating Calling hours will be at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service, from 9 – 10 a.m. with burial at Hillside Memorial Park.
