He trained at Camp Hale, Colorado in mountain warfare techniques including mountain climbing, alpine skiing, and cold-weather survival and was then station at Fort Carson.
He attended the University of Utah for his undergraduate studies and then attended Dental School at the University of Kansas City from 1958-1962. He practiced dentistry in Salt Lake City for 47 years.

A viewing will be held on Monday, September 9th from 6-8 pm at the East Millcreek 9th Ward on 3750 South Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at the Salt Lake City Cemetery (4th Avenue & N Street) at 10:00 am. A special thanks to his wonderful neighbors, ward family, Visiting Angels, especially Stephanie, for their friendship, love, and care.
His love of life was his dear Geniel! We all knew that she was the most important person in his life. One of his deepest heartaches was their separation for the past three years. We are all so profoundly touched with the love he had for her. We know their reunion was so sweet.
Wayne will be missed by many, he made everyone around him happier. He loved his family and his Father in Heaven and Savior. He taught his family the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He always led by example and his actions confirmed his sincere testimony of Jesus Christ. We love you, Dad!
