Wayne A. Lookenbill

Wayne A. Lookenbill, age 77, of Hanover, passed away at UPMC Memorial in York on January 18, 2026. He was the loving husband of Sandra A. (Lawrence) Lookenbill; together they shared 55 years of marriage.

Wayne was born in Kennedy, TX on August 15, 1948 and was the son of the late Merle and Betty (Lookenbill) Sanders. He attended South Western High School and was a self-employed carpet installer for nearly 40 years. Every day at lunch you could find Wayne at the Hanover Home Association or the Hanover AmVets, where he was a social member. He was a parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Hanover and a member of the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Hanover Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Wayne enjoyed hunting, watching football, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

In addition to his loving wife Sandra, Wayne is survived by his son Mark Lookenbill and wife Krista (Hufnagle) Lookenbill; his grandchildren Monica, Jason, and Kevin who were his pride and joy; his brother Randy Sanders; and his sister Lori (Sanders) Rogers. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Wayne's Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third St., Hanover, PA 17331. He will be laid to rest following the Mass at St. Vincent Cemetery in Hanover. A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 501 Ridge Ave., McSherrystown, PA 17344.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wayne's memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
