Wayne Lum

Wayne David Lum, 64, died peacefully after a long battle with cancer, at Mountain View Living Center Hospice Unit of the Sheridan VA in Sheridan, Wyoming on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
He was born on April 19, 1959 in Syracuse, New York. He was the adopted son of the late David P. Lum, Jr. and Anna L. Olsson Lum of Lowville, New York. Growing up in Upstate New York Wayne enjoyed logging and helping with the Lewis County Maple Syrup Sugar Bush production. He was an avid hunter, both archery and rifle, loved to fish, hike, and enjoy the outdoors. His favorite pastime was playing his bass guitar.
Prior to his senior year he moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming to attend and graduate from Cheyenne Central High School. He took pride in juggling school work, working at Little America, welding and body work, and simply enjoying the beauty of Wyoming.
After graduation he returned to Upstate New York to work again in the logging and maple syrup production before enlisting in the United States Navy for a 12 year career specializing as a Hull Tech, Welder, and FireFighter. Shortly after joining the Navy he married Michelle Ann Caffarella from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Together they had two sons, Jay Lum and Michael Lum. Several years prior to Michelles death in 2018, they divorced. In October of 2018, Wayne married Jennifer Poradosky from New Jersey.
He and Jennifer enjoyed time traveling in their motorhome before they decided to move to the Northern Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming to spend time with his sister Roberta, her husband Rick and their extended Mountain Lodges family. He enjoyed visiting with the staff and customers while reliving his love for Wyoming. In the fall of 2022 he relocated to Buffalo, Wyoming where he enjoyed time spent with the Veterans there.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer, son Jay (Marianita) Lum of Philadelphia, son Michael of New Jersey, and sister Roberta (Rick) Young of Wyoming.
No calling hours are planned. The family will do a private ceremony in the Spring. Thank you to the VA Staff for the care given to Wayne during his time there.
