Wayne R. Marchbanks
Piedmont, SC
Wayne Ralph Marchbanks, 83, husband of Laverne Owen Marchbanks, of Piedmont, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Born in Easley, SC, in the Arial Mill area, he was a son of the late James Thomas “Tom” Marchbanks and Hannah Evalena Stone Marchbanks.
Mr. Marchbanks was the co-owner and operator of M and M BP Station in Easley. He was a member of the Bates Masonic Lodge #189 A.F.M. and the Swamp Brothers Fishing Club. He also loved fishing, racing, baseball, telling tales, and spending time at his cabin.
Mr. Marchbanks was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church. He was very musically inclined, loved to sing, and served as music director for several local churches.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Marchbanks is survived by a daughter, Becky Nelson; grandchildren, Zachary Allman Grant (Jennifer) and Benjamin Wayne Nelson (Leeauna); great-grandchildren, Karter Allman and Dalton Gates Grant, and Eli Wayne, Silas Scott, and Sage Amico Nelson; a stepson, Chris Galloway; and his first wife, Jeannie Tant Marchbanks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Jean Lark; brothers, Donald Eugene and Ronnie Herman Marchbanks; and a sister, Carol Grace Phillips.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29673.
The family will be at 102 Avalon Circle, Easley, SC 29642.
