Wayne McKinney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Adamson Life Celebration Home on Jan. 30, 2026.
Wayne Dean McKinney, of Yukon, Oklahoma, born in Greeley, Colorado passed away on January 21, 2026, at the age of 49.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Tracy McKinney; his children, Karlee (mother, Tami Humphrey) and Taylor (mother, Tracy); his mom, Janet McKinney; his sister, Shelly McKinney; Aunt Linda McKinney; Aunt Lynnette, Uncle Phil Calabrese; several cousins; and many beloved fur babies. He was preceded in death by his dad, Samuel Dean McKinney.

Wayne inherited a deep love of OU football from his dad, a passion that brought him great joy throughout his life. For many years, Wayne and his sister Shelly made weekly drives from Colorado to Oklahoma during football season to cheer on the Sooners. That love eventually led Wayne to move his family to Oklahoma, a place he proudly called home.

Wayne never met a stranger. He loved talking with people and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone he encountered. Wayne was known as an all- star bowler who was very well known in his town in Colorado. Later on he developed a passion for pinball.

Wayne was a hardworking man who loved his family fiercely. He shared a special bond with both daughters through his funny dance moves and his singing and sharing his love of OU with them. Even more shared a special connection with his mom, never failing to call her every night. In return, he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley, Colorado with a reception to follow.
