Wayne Hertis Morrison, 78 of Hahira and formerly of Macclenny, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at his home. Wayne was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Willie H. and Alice Dobson Morrison on October 12, 1947. He joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and was sent to defend our country in Vietnam. Upon his return, his brother had enlisted, so Wayne decided to go back and serve another tour alongside his brother. After an honorable discharge, Wayne went to work for CSX , where he would work as an engineer for nearly 40 years until his retirement.
Wayne was the life of the party and loved to make memories with friends and family. He enjoyed grilling and could cook some of the best ribs you ever ate. Wayne’s main passion was golf and he had become a skilled player over years of practice. He also enjoyed fishing. Wayne had spent the last part of his life in Hahira, but spent some time in The Villages after moving from Macclenny, where he had spent the majority of his life.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dickie Tidwell, Keith Morrison, and Chloe McElroy; and a great grandchild, Jackson Morrison.
He leaves behind family who cherish years of memories; his sons, Wayne Morrison and Joshua Morrison both of Macclenny; grandchildren, Logan Morrison, Abbey Morrison, Myles Morrison, and Madison Morrison; one great grandchild, Riley Morrison; siblings, James Morrison, Holly Edelen, and Nina Morrison; as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends in the chapel at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Wayfare Cemetery, Statenville, Georgia.
