Wayne O. Newton

Wayne O. Newton, 88, of Rye, NH and Methuen, MA, passed away on September 16, 2024. Wayne was born on May 3, 1936, to the late Fay and Rieta (Sawtell) Newton in Gardner, MA.
He grew up in Gardner and attended local schools. Wayne later attended Boston University and graduated from American International College in Springfield, MA. Wayne worked his entire 40-year career at the Andover Companies. He was a member of the Aleppo Shriners Hospital in Wilmington, MA and a Pastmaster at the John Hancock Masonic Lodge in Methuen, MA.
Wayne was married to the love of his life, Marge (Stewart) Newton, for almost 60 years, until Marge passed away in 2019. They raised five children together in Andover. Wayne worked multiple side jobs in early family days, including as an electrician and plumber, while also building most of their Pleasant St house, in addition to his day job. Most importantly, Wayne loved his family dearly, and spending time at the beach with them.
He is survived by his children Peter Newton and his fiancé Shannon Kinney of Newburyport, MA, Paul Newton of Waltham, MA, Mark Newton and his wife Kim of Wellesley, MA, Allison Leveille and her husband Greg of Methuen, MA and Reed Newton and his wife Deb of Wayland, MA; his grandchildren Matthew, Spencer, Christopher, Melissa, Jocelyn, Emma, Sophie, Caitlin, Jake, Cole and Liam; and his brother Merl Newton of Athol, MA.
At the family's request, services will be private. Interment will take place at West Parish Cemetery, Andover, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Shriner's Hospital for Children at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org. Please reference in memory of Wayne Newton.
