Wayne L. Olson, 86, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Friday, August 15, 2025, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
Wayne Lee Olson was born June 4, 1939, in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Virginia (Slusser) Olson. He married the love of his life, Rita Carton, on January 23, 1960, in Geneseo.
Farming was Wayne’s career and also passion. He enjoyed visiting with everyone about farming and especially with his nephew/son, Scott Nelson. He also enjoyed collecting Buck Knives and anything “Coleman”. Family was the most important thing to Wayne.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Rita; two children, Barbara (Chuck) Dornfeld and Duane (Joline) Olson, both of Geneseo; four grandchildren, Heath (Brenda) Dornfeld, Nick (Emily) Dornfeld, Janelle (Ben) Pillard, and Kelsey (Kyle) Redmond; great-grandchildren, Jase and Lauren Dornfeld, Eli and Cole Dornfeld, Maren and Logan Pillard, and Collins and Abel Redmond.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, at a later date.
