www.vandemorefuneralhome.comFrancis was born and raised in Annawan, IL, and graduated from Annawan High School in 1959. As the eldest of 13 siblings, he spent his early years helping on the family farm. Affectionately known as "Mr. Combine," Francis transitioned from farming to a 39-year career at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, where he proudly assembled combines until his retirement in 2001. He was also a successful seed corn salesman for Cargill and Dekalb and remained deeply connected to farming by driving grain trucks for Atkinson Grain & Fertilizer and helping his brothers and family during harvest season.
A true social butterfly, Francis was always active in his community. He was a proud member of the Moose Lodge and the East End Bolder's Club. In retirement, he enjoyed playing rolle bolle, attending parades with his beloved tractor, participating in tractor shows, working for Mecum Auctions, transporting cars for Crowe Ford, visiting the East Moline Speedway, and watching NASCAR. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, one of his most cherished memories was celebrating his 80th birthday in Wrigleyville.
Francis is survived by his daughter, Darcey (Matt) Lloyd of Oconomowoc, WI; and his beloved grandchildren Emma, Ethan, and Ellie Lloyd. He is also survived by his brothers Dwaine (Laura) Verbeck, Don (Lonna) Verbeck, Dennis (Jodi) Verbeck, and Dean (Tammy) Verbeck; and sisters Rose (Dick) Moeller of Colona, Lena (Richard) VanHyfte of Annawan, his devoted and caring sister Doreen (Mike) DeRew of Geneseo, and Bonnie (Terry) Vandersnick of Geneseo. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Clara Verbeck, his brothers LeRoy Jr., John, and Dale Verbeck and niece, Tammy Cathelyn.
Francis will be remembered for his warm heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community. The family would like to especially thank all the nurses and staff at Allure of Prophetstown and VITAS Hospice for their loving care and friendship to Francis.
