Wayne Shaffer

Wayne Shaffer, 78 of South Connellsville died on Thursday February 29, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 12, 1945 in Connellsville a son of the late Harold and Edna Mae Shaffer. Wayne was a 1963 graduate of Connellsville High School. He was a former member of the US Army National Guard. Wayne was the owner and operator of Fay-West Glass in Uniontown for many years. In his early years, Wayne played softball in many area leagues and he loved all local sports and he especially loved his time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Connellsville. He is survived by his wife, Carol S. Freed Shaffer; his children, Hank Shaffer and his wife Jan of South Connellsville, Steve Shaffer and Brooke of Dunbar and Melissa Dyer of Connellsville; his grandchildren, whom he adored; Luke Shaffer and his wife Ashley, Hannah Groover and her husband Dustin, Samuel Wayne Shaffer, Spencer Shaffer, Shane Shaffer, Joseph Lee, Jacob Lee, Jackson Lee and Madelyn Dyer; his sisters, Ethel Wishard of Connellsville and Sonnie Luoma of Carmichaels and many special nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Kenneth and baby Clayton Shaffer and his beloved pet boxer, Murphy. Family and friends will be received from 12:00 Noon - 8:00 P.M. Sunday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Monday at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor John Friend officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Connellsville, 301 S. Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, Pa. 15425 in memory of Wayne Shaffer.
