Wayne D. Spink

Wayne D. Spink, 93, of Hillside, died Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Alden Estates of Naperville, Illinois. He had worked at a variety of companies in the area over the years until health issues kept him from continuing employment in late 2024. Wayne was born on December 29, 1931, in Chicago, IL to William and Margaret (Hoppe) Spink. He served his country in 3 branches of the military, first in the Army National Guard after high school, joined the Marine Corps in 1951, serving in Korea, and later with the Air National Guard until 1968. He was married to his wife, Sally Spink, for 67 years, residing in Villa Park for 20 years, before moving to Hillside in 1977, where they lived together with their son Kenneth until her death. He was preceded in death by both parents, both brothers, his wife Sally, 3 nephews, 1 daughter-in-law, and 1 great-grandson. survivors include 3 sons, David (the late Sue) of Mt Morris, IL, Donald (Elizabeth) of Villa Park,
Kenneth of Hillside; and 1 daughter Wendy (William) Wilson of Springfield, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; 5 granddaughters; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. Wayne had been a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Elmhurst, IL, serving first in the Adult Mixed Choir and later as an Elder, lay minister, and deacon. He continued to sing in the choir until no longer able to stand without support, and assisted the congregation for many years in a variety of positions until his death.
