Wayne Surles Obituary
He was a devoted husband for 65 years. Wayne was a selfless man. He never shied away from hard work and always tried to lend a helping hand. He retired from the CIA many years ago. Afterwards, he had several odd jobs including delivering flowers where he met many new people and shared many old stories.
He is survived by his wife Susan Surles, his son Wayne Surles (Susie), his daughter Becky Irving (Dewey), 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Ruby Surles, his siblings Ted and Jerry Surles, Judy Barnes and his two grandsons Dylan Irving and Brian Carroll.
We would like to extend a thank you to Amedysis Home Healthcare for such great care with special thanks to Abbie and Liz for their wonderful bedside manner and ability to make Wayne smile.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 6 to 8pm at Covenant Funeral Home, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Following the service a reception will be held at Dominion Raceway on the 2nd floor.
