Wayne Templeton

Wayne Curby Templeton, 86, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Born September 13, 1939, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Goldie and Merle Templeton, Wayne was raised in LaMonte, Missouri, where he graduated from LaMonte High School in 1957. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. Wayne attended State Fair College and Iowa State University and worked for 35 years as a gas controller with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, later continuing with Coastal Marketing Company/Duke Energy.

Wayne married Virginia "Ginny" Hughes on October 14, 1980, and they shared 45 years together. He enjoyed travel, puzzles, volunteering in the Katy community, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Hughes Templeton; children Curby Templeton (Kimberly), Lee Ann Wilson (Andy Schuck), and Charlie Templeton; stepsons Brian Swearngin (Tiffani) and Brad Swearngin; sisters Betty Shoe and Patty Kirkpatrick (Herman); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Templeton.

A visitation will be held January 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Katy Funeral Home, Katy, Texas. A second visitation and Celebration of Life will be held January 24, 2026, at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia, Missouri, at the same times. Meals will follow both services.
