Wayne LuVerne VanderVeer passed away on January 19, 2026. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, or to the VA Hospital of Central Iowa.

Wayne was born on August 19, 1937, in Marion County, Iowa, to Engle and Hazel (Milledge) VanderVeer. Following his graduation from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After completing his military service, Wayne went on to serve as the supervisor of the Marion County Road Department, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment.

On September 13, 1958, Wayne was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Betty May (Pottorff) VanderVeer. Together, they were blessed with three sons, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Betty VanderVeer; sons: Mike (Cathy) VanderVeer, Richard (Kathy) VanderVeer, and Russell (Norma) VanderVeer; his five grandchildren; Sheila (Nick), Steven, Michelle, Jamie (Hannah), Jeffrey (Shannon); eight great-grandchildren; siblings: Paul (Ruth) VanderVeer, Engle (Sharon) VanderVeer, and Patty Williams; dear friends: Dennis and Brenda McKee, along with many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Engle and Hazel (Milledge) VanderVeer; siblings: Jim, Roy, Jack, Lavonne, and Violet.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Wayne's life.
