Wayne A. Wolfenkoehler, 87, of
Oklahoma City, OK passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was a devoted family man who cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Some of his happiest moments were shared at the family cabin at the lake, enjoying boat rides or tinkering with woodworking projects that reflected his patience and craftsmanship. Family gatherings during holidays and birthdays brought him great joy, and those moments will be treasured forever.
Wayne attended high school in Jackson, Missouri, graduating in 1956. Following graduation, he proudly and honorably served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. He rose to the distinguished rank of Chief Master Sergeant, a testament to his leadership, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
On May 9, 1959, he married the love of his life, Wilma Wolfenkoehler, in Leopold, Missouri. Their enduring marriage was a shining example of love, partnership, and devotion.
After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his strong work ethic by founding Wilway Realty Co., a property management company he successfully operated for 23 years before retiring. His business was built on fairness, trust, and genuine care for people-qualities that defined every part of his life.
He was known as a happy and considerate man, always generous and thoughtful, with a remarkable ability to find humor in any situation. His smile, laughter, and kind spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A man of many interests, he loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, OU Sooners and The Oklahoma City Thunder. He was an avid follower of current events, and enjoyed reading and music. He played the guitar and had a deep love for country music, with favorites ranging from Elvis Presley to Toby Keith. Music was a source of comfort and joy throughout his life.
He was a devoted member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, where he attended faithfully since 1977. His faith was an important foundation in his life, guiding his values and the way he treated others.
Above all, he will be remembered for his love of family, his service to his country, his generosity, and the warmth he shared so freely. His life was one of dedication, laughter, and love, and he leaves behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Wilma Wolfenkoehler, sons Randy Wolfenkoehler and his wife Lorrie of Bentonville, AR; Warren Wolfenkoehler and his wife Sherry, of
Oklahoma City, OK; Wes Wolfenkoehler, of
Oklahoma City, OK; Wade Wolfenkoehler and his wife Valerie, of Keller, TX; and Wanda (Wolfenkoehler) York and her husband Ron, of
Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren Abbi (Wolfenkohler) Suk and her husband Andrew, of Chicago, IL; Lydia Wolfenkoehler, of Bentonville, AR; Wyatt Wolfenkoehler and his wife Ally, of Tulsa, OK; and Rhett Wolfenkoehler, Ryker Wolfenkoehler, Reid Wolfenkoehler of Keller, TX.
He is predeceased by his granddaughter Megan York.
