Wayne Irving York

1936 - 2025

Rockton, IL - Wayne Irving York, age 89, passed away peacefully in Eau Claire, WI on November 29, 2025. Wayne was born to Irving and Julia York on August 15, 1936 in Beloit, WI. Wayne grew up in South Beloit, IL, and was the oldest of four siblings with whom he helped raise when his mother had become severely ill. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. Wayne loved to garden, fish, hunt, cook, bake and spend time with his family.

On January 6, 1957, Wayne married Grace Tremaine in Rockton, IL. They were happily married almost 69 years. They reside in Rockton, IL. He was a dedicated employee for General Motors in Janesville, WI for 30 years. In 1986, at the age of 50, Wayne retired with Grace and they enjoyed many years traveling. During their retirement, they would regularly travel to Florida and Northern Wisconsin to their lakeside cabin. Wayne was a very passionate and proud gardener. His gardens were always plentiful and delicious. Wayne tended his garden every year until he was 88.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Grace York; his children, Donna Voigtlander, Dan York and daughter-in-law, Sarah York; his brother, John (Darlene) York; grandchildren, Jason (Kaye) Voigtlander, Joseph Voigtlander, Stephen (Carrie) Voigtlander, Andrew (Laura) Voigtlander, Irving (Kimberly) York, Amy (Tyler) Tubbs, Raymond York and Rebecca York; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Irving and Julia York, his sisters Dorothy Rotzoll and Jeannette Rochester, and his son Ralph York.

A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, Illinois with Pastor Randy Nicholas officiating. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of Ceremony on Saturday. Burial to follow in Floral Lawn Cemetery.
