A cherished soul whose warmth and compassion touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at White Oak Manor of Shelby, NC.
Born December 22, 1932, in Shelby, NC, Dwight leaves a legacy of love and warmth that will forever resonate in the hearts of those that knew him.
Dwight is proceeded in death by his parents, Tom and Lizzy York. He leaves behind his chosen family, Pam and Buddy Dover of Shelby, NC, Ashley and Travis James and children Kaylee, MacKenzie and Carly of Fallston, NC, and Sarah Strange of Shelby, NC.
Dwight was lovingly cared for by the staff at White Oak Manor in Shelby, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Salvation Army Church conducted by Sgt Joseph and Patty Rodgers.
