Wendell Carl Anderson, 86, of Wilson, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 24, 1938, in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Dwight Wesley and Gwen Gertrude (Nicholas) Anderson, and was the oldest of three children, including the late Ruth (Anderson) Matazel, and Donald Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Joyce Henn Anderson; son, Mark Anderson and his wife, Michelle, of Elm City, North Carolina; daughter, Kristin Anderson, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Anderson and his wife, Hannah, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Melissa Peacock and her husband Taylor, of Sanford, North Carolina, and great-grandchildren, Theodore Anderson, Shepherd Anderson, George Peacock and Lilly Joy Peacock.
Wendell earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas, and had a fulfilling career as a representative at Moody Bible Institute, from where he retired.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Peace Church, 2838 Tilghman Rd N, Wilson, North Carolina. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Rusty Russell officiating.
