Wendell Ashley, 53, of Madison Heights, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Wendell was born on May 20, 1971, to Valerie and Windell Ashley in Washington, DC. After graduating from Amherst County High School at the age of 18, he then joined the Navy.

Wendell was a member of Scott Zion Baptist Church in Madison Heights, VA, from an early age. Wendell worked in landscaping for several years and had recently started at Buffalo Air. Wendell loved football and was a huge Cowboys fan. He loved everything about football, from talking about it to watching the games. He was big on his family and loved everything about family gatherings, including taking all of his kids and cousins to Kings Dominion and hosting the biggest family cookouts. His smile and laughter will forever be missed.

Wendell leaves to celebrate fond memories and his legacy of love to his mother, Valerie Ashley of Madison Heights, VA; his father, Windell Ashley (Audrey) of Tampa, FL; his daughters Tierra Davis (Tarrence) of Raleigh, NC; Tianike Ashley of Raleigh, NC; Diandra Ashley of Madison Heights, VA; Trinity Harris of Madsion Heights, VA; Juliana Dalton of Madison Heights, VA; his brother Micheal Ashley of Madison Heights, VA; his granddaughter Serenity McDaniel; his grandsons, Trenton Davis, Jaylin Randolph, Josiah Randolph; a devoted friend Jennifer Dalton; along with a host of supportive group members including aunts, uncles, cousins, a niece and nephew, and countless friends.

Wendell was a big personality in a small package. He had an impact on each person he interacted with. He was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, full of joy, a ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. He lived his life to the fullest, despite his many challenges. His greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of his girls and being a huge Cowboys fan.

Services will be at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Scott Zion Baptist Church, 2602 Galts Mill Road Madison Heights, Virginia 24572.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia.
