Wendell Goertzen Obituary

Wendell Goertzen of Maplewood Minnesota passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 73.

Wendell was the first born to proud parents Wilma and Richard Goertzen on September 26, 1952. Growing up as the eldest of five siblings, he enjoyed music, NASCAR, and spending time with his family, especially at big Christmas celebrations in their family home.

He graduated from Kellogg High School in 1971 and later worked for Energy Manufacturing and other clothing manufacturing companies. When he wasn't working, you'd find him at model train events, fishing in nearby lakes, and watching any and all Minnesota sports teams. His favorite pastime came around once a year, the Minnesota State Fair, where he enjoyed walking around and people watching.

He was a familiar face in the neighborhood and community of Maplewood where he made lifelong friends and at his church of Bridgewood Community where he frequently volunteered. He was known and will be missed for his generous heart, humor, and most of all, his incredibly positive attitude and caring soul.

Wendell is survived by his brother Mark (Michelle) Goertzen; his sister Jane Kirchoff; sister-in-law Bev Goertzen; cousin Pam Hinz; several other cousins; eight nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.

He is joined in Heaven by his parents Wilma and Richard Goertzen; his brother Rollie Goertzen, his sister Perri Goertzen, and many friends.

Memorial service 11:00 AM Thursday, April 9 at Bridgewood Community Church, 11670 Lexington Ave NE, Blaine 55449. Visitation at the church from 10-11 AM Thursday 4/9.

Wendell will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him. May he rest in peace in Jesus' loving arms.
