Wendell Lee Todd, age 95, of Baxley passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Memorial Health in Savannah.
Born November 26, 1930, in Dublin, Georgia, Mr. Todd lived a life marked by service, adventure, and unwavering faith. His career as an electrician took him across the nation, and he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. At Riverside Baptist Church, he was known for his friendly smile and the heartfelt hugs he offered to everyone who walked through the doors. A committed Mason and member of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge, he lived out his values with strength and integrity. He will be remembered for his gentle smile, his steadfast faith, and the love he shared so freely.
Mr. Todd was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Todd and Eva Lee Jones Todd, a son, Wendell Allen Todd; and brothers, Truman Adison Todd and Dekle Dean Todd.
Survivors include his wife, Vernell Fort, children, Lee Ann Todd Jackson, Rebecca Lynn Todd, Catherine Demers, and Richard Wayne Todd; stepchildren, Sharon Fort Sanders, Dean Fort, and Carol Fort Moser; sister-cousin, Mary White; several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Justin McLellan and Rev. Bill Stone officiating.
A committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
Active pallbearers will be Jamie Patterson, Josh Stone, Ricky Cleland, Sr., Ricky Carter, Lee Jones and Earl Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Riverside Baptist Church and members of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Swain Funeral Home.
