Wendy Helen Donald Dillard, born on April 24, 1943, in the lush landscapes of South Africa, ascended to the heavens on September 30, 2024, at Mission Hospital. Her life was a tapestry woven with loving threads of family, faith, and dedication. Wendy was not just an accountant; she was a steadfast pillar in the lives of those who knew her.

Educated with a bachelor’s degree, Wendy rose to meet life's challenges with an unwavering resolve. She poured her heart into her career, meticulously dedicating herself to numbers and balance sheets while simultaneously nurturing her role as a mother and grandmother with grace and affection. Her work in accounting was undergirded by an unyielding sense of responsibility and service that marked every endeavor she undertook.

Wendy was a cherished member of The Orchard Church in Waynesville, North Carolina, where her faith blossomed, and her spirit intertwined with the community. It was a sanctuary where friendships flourished, and her gentle demeanor and kind heart left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Her presence was calm, soothing the worries of others while lighting up their lives with her warm smile.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emery Lee Dillard, who departed this world in 2004, and her parents, Thomas Donald and Hazel Olga Dold Donald. In her passing, she carries with her their legacy and memories, forever embedded in the heart of the family she so lovingly nurtured.

Wendy is survived by her two devoted sons, Warren Medley (Bronwen) and Trent Medley (Beverly), along with six adoring grandchildren: Robyn, Cameron, Aaron, Troy, Taryn, and Kelly Medley. Each grandchild will carry forward a piece of her spirit and remember her gentle encouragements and endearing laughter. She is further embraced by seven step-grandchildren: Wray Dillard (Rhonda), Carolyn Dillard, Mark Dillard (Donna), Leslie Campbell, Anna Dillard, Emily Dillard, and Tony Dillard, each one a testament to the love she cultivated in her extended family. The tapestry of her life also included a special friendship with Brenda Thomason, Shelby Moore and many others.

As we gather to honor Wendy's incredible journey, visitation will take place on October 13, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. at The Orchard Church, located at 205 W Brook Dr, Waynesville, NC 28786.
