DECKERVILLE - Wesley Wixson Eickholdt, 82, of Cedar, passed away at his daughter's residence in Deckerville on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, under hospice care. Wesley was born Jan. 15, 1923 in Detroit, the son of the late Wesley S. and Belle May (Wixson) Eickholdt.

Wesley attended high school in Detroit. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the overseas theater. He married Anna Figurski on July 14, 1946. He worked at D&E Display in Detroit, where he became a member of the Local 687 Carpenters Union. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City and was also a member of the Traverse City VFW.

Wesley is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Eickholdt of Cedar; his children, Mark B. (Sharon) Eickholdt of Brandon, Keith J. (Lisa) Eickholdt of Georgia, Pamela (Rick Jr.) Spencer of Deckerville; eight grandchildren, Stacia Eickholdt, Alissa Eickholdt, Jack Eickholdt, David Roberts, Brooke Spencer, Angela Bohle, Jeremy Eickholdt, Joshua Eickholdt; four great-grandchildren, James Bohle, Phillip Bohle, Emma Eickholdt, Jacob Eickholdt; one daughter-in-law, Karen Eickholdt of White Lake; four brothers and three sisters.

He was preceded in death in 2003 by his son, Kevin Eickholdt.

Visitation was be at the Smigielski Funeral Home of Minden City, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 1 to 9 p.m., and at the church only on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 10 t0 11 a.m. There will be a parish vigil service on Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m., with Rev. Paul Bala, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Port Sanilac, at the funeral home.

A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. The Rev. Paul Bala will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery of Palms in the spring.
