Wesley Fotsch, 89, of Iowa City, passed away on January 19, 2026 at Briarwood Health Care Center.

Wesley was born on April 26, 1936, in Farmington, Iowa to Paul and Agnes (Anderson) Fotsch. He was raised in a large family with eight siblings where they worked on the family farm and in his father's feed store and hatchery. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a meat inspector in both the United States and Germany until his discharge 1957.

Upon return, Wesley attended and graduated from Iowa State University where he was active in the agriculture department. He then moved to Iowa City for a real estate position and eventually started his own company called MOD POD, Inc., which specialized in real estate and property management. He retired in 2007 after over 30 years of service.

Wesley was involved with several community endeavors. He held leadership roles with the Optimist Club and Iowa City Board of Realtors. He spearheaded the Optimist Club Christmas tree fundraiser and was awarded realtor of the year in 1978. Wesley was also a member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid sports fan of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games where he often hosted tailgates at the Finger Tree.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Nancy Fotsch; children from his first marriage: Jan, Lynne, Joy and Brian; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; one sibling; two stepchildren and three step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; one stepdaughter and one step grandson.

A private interment will be held at the Farmington, Iowa Cemetery.
