Wesley Saul Obituary

Wesley William Saul went to be with his Lord on July 1, 2023. Born May 23, 1927 in Elmhurst, IL and raised in Oak Park, IL, he graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in June of 1945. Six weeks later he was drafted into the US Army and served 19 months. Wesley's professional journey spanned decades of commitment and passion. He spent 27 years at Assessment Bond Service as an accountant and office manager. During this time he attended evening classes at Northwestern University, earning his degree in accounting. He later worked for 29 years at William Harris Investors as an Investment Advisor, tax accountant and later Director of Human Resources, retiring in 2008. Wes served as church treasurer and Chairman of the board at Harvard Avenue Bible Church, served on the board and as treasurer at Des Plaines Bible Church (now The Bridge), and was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, IL. In every church he attended, he sang in the choir and sang solos, and he also directed choirs at 3 churches. He served on the board of directors of Evangelical Child and Family Agency (ECFA) for over 20 years, as treasurer and later chairman of the board.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Martha Saul, his beloved wife of 52 years, Virginia (nee Witt), and his brother Arthur Saul.

He is survived by four children, Jeanette (Peter Underwood), Alan (Kathleen), Kenneth (Laurie) and Carl (Lisa), 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In his 96 years, he lived to see 6 Stanley Cups, the 1985 Super Bowl and finally his beloved Cubs win the World Series in 2016.

Wesley would like to be remembered for being a man of quiet dedication, unswerving loyalty, unquestioned integrity, humility and contentment in obscurity.

I´ll always remember Wesley at Sunday school always getting his coffee and trying to get him to eat treats, but he didn´t want to. I enjoyed his company and always look forward to the Sunday school class so I could see him and chat with him. He was a loving, wonderful person. I will always remember him being so caring and loving and the four buddies that always sat with Wesley at Sunday school class Sally Judih Diane we always share the one table. I´ll always remember I am and God bless him my prayers will be with the family and I always will remember Daniel. God bless the family in the loving friend Judywilson.
