WESLEY SAVAGE
ALEXANDRIA, IN - Wesley T. "Dink" Savage, 88, entered peace and rest from Northview Health and Living in Anderson on Friday, February 28, 2025, following an extended illness.
He was born on November 2, 1936, in Alexandria to Paul and Dorothy (McKissick) Savage and lived in Alexandria all of his lifetime. He was a graduate of Alexandia High School-Class of 1956. In his younger days, Dink worked at Ellis Gulf Station in Alexandria. He also delivered milk for Carver's dairy. He entered the United States Army in service to his country in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1965 following his reserve obligation. Dink worked as a utility man at Delco-Remy for 43 years, retiring in 1999. A man of faith, he served his Lord at the Alexandria First United Methodist Church where he was an usher and custodian. Later he became a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in rural Alexandria. Active in the Alexandria community, Dink was a member of the Varsity "A" Mens Club, the Alexandria Lions Club and the Tuesday Morning Men's Coffee Cup Fellowship. He was a fan of most sports including Indiana Pacers Basketball, IU and Purdue basketball. He bowled for several years and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. Dink will be remembered for mentoring many young athletes on their sports journeys. After retirement, he spent his time making hanging "whirly-gigs", which he shared with family and friends. He liked NASCAR and favored Jeff Gordon as his driver. Dink was a loyal and devoted funeral assistant to Owens Memorial Services for several years. Dink had a servant's heart and was known to have never met a stranger. He always enjoyed having his grandkids visit him at his house and attending their birthday parties and events and calling him "grandpa" and "papa".

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years-Marilyn Beeman Savage in 2022, Brother-Robert "Bob" Savage, 2 Sisters-Janet Miller and Barbara Horine
Services honoring Dink's life, legacy and faith will take place at 4 pm on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria, IN 46001 with Pastor Milissa Beeman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. The Savage family will receive friends after 2 pm prior to the service in the funeral home.
