Obituary
Wesley Thomas Stevenson (Stephenson) was born on July 29, 1934, to the late Marie and Wesley Thomas Stephenson in Washington, DC.
He attended DC Public Schools and later started working as a cook at O'Donnell's Seafood Grill before entering the military, where he further honed his culinary skills. Upon returning from the military, he rejoined O'Donnell's and worked his way up to become one of their chefs.
Wesley was known for his love of cooking and was always eager to ensure that his wife, children, and extended family were well-fed. His culinary talents were often showcased during family gatherings, especially during the holidays, where his potato salad was always in high demand.
After many years as a chef, he transitioned to work for the federal government as a civilian with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Washington Aqueduct Division, where he served as a Chemical Handling Equipment Operator until his retirement after 42 years of dedicated service.
Remembered for his kind demeanor and willingness to go the extra mile to help family and friends, Wesley was a beloved figure in his community.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Lucy Mae Stevenson, his sister Sylvia Stephenson, and brother Theodore Stephenson Sr.
He is survived by his sister Norma Jeffries; daughters Peggy A. Joyner (Anthony), Angeles S. Beccles, Benita M. Stevenson, and son Wesley T. Stevenson (Stephanie); ten grandchildren Shannon, Jovana (Herbert), Brooke, Deric (Garneisha), Wesley, III, Brandon, Lorenzo (Briana), Marcus, Terrell and Jaylen; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Wesley Thomas Stevenson will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
