Wesley "W.W." Eugene Ward, 85, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away Thursday, January 08, 2026, at Memory Lane of Dexter.
Wesley was born on January 23, 1940, to Birl and Geraldine (King) Ward in Butler County, Missouri. He married Thelma Fay (Green) Ward on January 23, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Wesley was a long-time member of First Church of God of Poplar Bluff. He was an over the road truck driver for over 65 years before finally retiring around 2020. Wesley was a hardworking man and thoroughly enjoyed his career. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone, especially if the subject revolved around trucking. Wesley enjoyed watching Westerns and going deer hunting. He loved his family fiercely, especially his wife.
Wesley is survived by his two sons, Lynn (Billie) Ward and Lee (Patty) Ward; sister, Sharon Riddle; four grandchildren, Chad (Rachel) Ward, Wesley L. Ward, Shallyn Ward, and Reegan (Thomas) Phelps; sister-in-law, Joann Ward; brother-in-law, Leon Kirkley; along with numerous great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Birl and Geraldine; wife of 60 years, Thelma Fay Ward; two brothers, John (Earline) Ward and Butch Ward; three sisters, Emma Smart, Brenda (James) Bounds, and Patricia Kirkley.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:30am-12:30pm at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at 12:30pm with Pastor Michael Carter officiating. Burial will take place at Sparkman Cemetery.
