Weston Killpack Obituary

Weston Foote Killpack

1936 – 2024

- Weston F. Killpack passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at age 87, attended by his loving wife and companion, Lois Arlene Pope Killpack, and his daughters and their companions.

Born July 10, 1936, in Provo, Utah, to Lovell A. and Hazel F. Killpack, as the fifth of seven children. He attended schools in Provo, Utah and obtained a master's degree from Brigham Young University in Religious Education. He married Lois Arlene Pope on September 25, 1959, in the Salt Lake Temple. He met Lois when they each served as missionaries in the Canadian Mission. He later presided over the Canada Vancouver and Alaska Anchorage Missions. He taught seminary and institute in Salt Lake City and supervised the same in Oregon. He was a writer of curriculum for Seminaries and Institutes and also managed the Benefits program for CES employees. Following retirement, he served with Lois as Director of the Mesa Arizona Temple Visitors' Center. He was an ordinance worker and a sealer in the Jordan River Temple. He served in bishoprics, high councils, and three stake presidencies as well as most other church callings of leadership and instruction.

Weston influenced many, many lives beyond his own family. This included those whom he taught in Sunday School, seminary, and institute classes as well as the many missionaries who served under his leadership.

Weston was preceded in death by his parents Lovell Albert Killpack and Hazel Foote Killpack; four siblings: Lovell Killpack, Garth Killpack, Marilyn Meldrum, Elaine Johnson; and by his grandson, Matthew Woolsey. Survived by his wife, Lois, daughters Michelle Williams (Gaylen), Judy Woolsey (Carey), Julie Read (Elden), and Jolene Smith (Cary); 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful to all the doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who cared so lovingly and capably for Weston, our husband and father, and to us as a family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah. He was an amazing Mission President and had a profound impact in my life. I had the opportunity to work as one of his assistants in the mission office. He was a man of revelation and wisdom. My life is so much better because of this guidance and leadership! Thanks for sharing his life with me. Steven C. Jenson

Dear Lois and Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy at the passing of your dear Wes. He and Bruce were good friends while they served in CES. They loved their work and all the great people who served with them. Wes was respected by all with whom he worked. With love, Pat Lake

It was with sorrow that I read of the passing of Bro. Killpack. Please accept my condolences and also my gratefulness for his example and timely teachings. He influenced so many of us for good during our impressionable years of high school. I have thought of my seminary experience many times through the years and am very grateful for those who helped us feel the Savior's love each and every day. God bless you at this tender time!
