Obituary published on Legacy.com by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary, Ltd. on Jan. 13, 2026.
It is with heartfelt sympathy, the management and staff of Luke Strong and Son Mortuary, Ltd. are saddened to announce the passing of Whitley Natasha Norwood Cheevers, 35, of Powder Springs, Georgia. Whitley was born on April 29, 1990, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to Gilbert Norwood and Suzanne Norwood. She peacefully transitioned into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, January 11, 2026, leaving behind a life marked by her devotion to God, to her family, and to the people whose lives were touched by her kindness. She lived her life with purpose, led by grace and compassion, and loved with her whole heart. Whitley's life was a testament to love in action, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Whitley was married to the love of her life, best friend and soulmate, DeMario Cheevers. To this union four amazing children were born: Ariel Cheevers, Nathaniel Cheevers, Champion Cheevers, and Patience Cheevers. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Her family best describes her as, one who was beautiful inside and out. She was a loving, compassionate and inspirational person. She had a beautiful smile that warmed any room she entered and a sweet spirit that drew people in effortlessly. She loved church and praising God. Faith was the foundation of her life. She loved to have fun, she loved to laugh, she loved dressing up, doing her make up, styling and braiding her hair, doing her nails, listening to music and spending time with her family and her cat, Grace.

Whitley's educational background includes a high school diploma from Tift County High School in 2008 and a Bachelors of Science degree in Political Science from Albany State University in 2017. She was currently employed as an insurance adjuster with Humana.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marie Baker, Nathan Norwood, and Burton Hendriks.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, DeMario Cheevers of Powder Springs, Georgia; her children, Ariel Cheevers, Nathaniel Cheevers, Champion Cheevers, and Patience Cheevers all of Powder Springs, Georgia; her parents, Gilbert and Suzanne Norwood of Tifton, Georgia; grandmother, June Hendriks of Tifton, Georgia; two brothers, Sidney Norwood (Natalie) of Spain and Jamison Norwood of Tifton, Georgia; one sister, Brittany Norwood of Tifton, Georgia; mother-in-law, Janice E. Cheevers of Valdosta, Georgia; father-in-law, Bruce Cheevers (Exhorter Anne) of Clearwater, Florida; special friends, Itzel Page, Adam Page and Amanda Kaeding all of Minneapolis, Minnesota and a host of other family and friends.

The celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. The committal service will conclude at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, Georgia.

I was on the same team at work as Whitley. Our team is comprised of people who are compassionate & kind, so she definitely fit in. She cared about people. Always had kind words and offered encouragement when she felt that a persons spirit was troubled. She did that for me recently. Thank you Whitley. I will never forget. I will miss her light. She was a lovely human being. My prayers are with her family & friends. God bless.

I never met Whitley in person, but had been blessed with her work companionship over the last couple of years. I will miss her kind spirit, words of encouragement, and the light she brought with her in every moment. My heart goes out to her family, and friends. May the Lord bless her and keep her. Her husband and babies are in my prayers.

Love and light,
Lori Denison

Whitley, my daughter, its with deep sadness that I write these words. The first day that I met you and your family, I instantly made you my family. Ariel, Nathaniel and especially Champ become my babies. You and Mario my children. Ive seen you go through a lot in a short period of time and you came through like a CHAMP. But this time baby girl, this time you were tired. You needed to sleep. And that's ok!

Whitley, you will forever be in my thoughts and in my heart. You will be deeply missed, more than you could imagine. The boys, Mrs. Pate and Madie, all will miss you.

Rest well Whitley Cheevers. I love you.
