Wilamena Oty

Wilamena "Billie" Heisler Oty, age 96, of Riverdale passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at her home with family by her side. She was born May 12, 1928, in Onondaga, Michigan, the daughter of Peter and Evelyn (Houseman) Sylvester. She married David Heisler on September 16, 1945, a blessed union of 54 years until his passing in 1999. She later married Paul Oty on May 19, 2000, until his passing in 2014.
Billie worked for many years as a secretary at Gratiot Community Hospital.
Billie was skilled at multiple handicrafts, especially crochet. She always had a project going and was generous with her creations. She also enjoyed bowling and golfing until late in life, and came out the winner as many times as not. Billie had great affection for Yorkshire Terriers. Her most recent dog, Peanut, was a faithful companion in her final years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, David; second husband Paul; her parents, and her son, Gregory Heisler.
Billie is survived by her children Gary Heisler, Cheryl Heisler and Teri (Tom) Wolff, granddaughter Kylee (Jim) Johnson, and great grandsons Chase and Ian Johnson. She is also survived by her beloved Yorkie Peanut.
Cremation has taken place with burial to be held at a later date in Clarence Center Cemetery, Albion, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Riverdale.
