Wilba Jeane Parker Clapp passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 95 at Skyview Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Nebraska surrounded by family. Her Celebration of Life service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Gloryland Church in Bridgeport with Pastor Cameron Farrenkopf officiating. In lieu of any flowers, memorials in Jeane's honor be made in care of the family to be designated at a later time. Online condolences may be made by viewing Wilba's memorial page at www.bridgmanfuneralhome.com. Bridgman Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport is entrusted with arrangements.
She was born on June 12, 1929, to Agnus Litterest. Her early years were spent on a ranch in Nebraska that was later claimed by the government to create Lake McConaughy. After the loss of that land, her mother and stepfather, Howard Fairchild purchased a new ranch south of Broadwater, Nebraska, where Jeane spent the remainder of her childhood.
Over the course of her life, Jeane took on many roles to help support her family. She was a ranch wife, cafe manager, cook, school bus driver, and later in life she became a caregiver for homebound individuals. She moved where life took her-living in Nebraska, South Dakota, North Carolina, California, Arizona, Illinois and eventually returning to Nebraska.
In 1949, Jeane married Davie Lee Parker to this union five children were born, Jack, Cherrie, Oa-Frog, Edward, and Tony. Jeane and Davie later divorced. In 1974, while living in Sidney, NE, she married Harold Clapp to this union a daughter, Tina was born. Through her marriage to Harold, Jeane also became stepmother to Ronald, Steve, Cheri, and Kathleen.
Jeane's life was shaped by work, change, and the places she called home. Those who knew her will remember different parts of her story. Throughout her life, she held a quiet but steady belief in God, which gave her comfort during both calm and uncertain times.
Jeane is survived by her sons Jack (Connie), Edward (Mary), Tony (Rhonda), daughter, Tina (Jeff) Thames, daughter-in-law, Kathy Parker, son-in-law, Linden Sanders, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children Oa and Cherrie, stepson, Ronald, her grandson Quinton, and great-grandson Keighton.
