Will Dammerman, 74, of Altamont died at 8:45 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital.
Per Will's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Sid Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow at Arborcrest Memorial Park, rural Effingham with military rites by Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger VFW Post #7676. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Altamont VFW or Meals on Wheels.
Wilbert Wayne Dammerman was born on Saturday, December 3, 1949 in Effingham to Leo and Ila (McCallen) Dammerman. Will attended Beecher City High School. Upon graduation, he was enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country in the Vietnam War. After his tour of duty, Will spent many years as a boat mechanic at the family's Lake Sara Marina Lakeside and then worked at World Color Press in Salem before going back to school for civil engineering. Will finished his civil engineering career and then spent his time fishing and serving the Altamont Post 7676 VFW as Quarter Master. Will enjoyed fishing, music, and having a good time.
He is survived by his daughters Robbi (Garrett) Lidwin, Tara (Luke) Standerfer, his sisters Patti (Paul) Bernhard and Brenda (Brian) Brummer and brothers Bob Dammerman and Tom Dammerman; grandchildren Kylie Meade, Caden and Calin Chandler, Carter and Claire Standerfer as well as many nieces and nephews.
Will is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Lillian.
