In Loving Memory of Wilbert Zuylen

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilbert Zuylen, age 78, on September 18, 2025, surrounded by family at his home in Bethesda, MD. Wilbert was born in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion.

He was a devoted husband to Bertha Zuylen, and a proud father to Frank Zuylen, who, along with his wife Sandy and his grandchildren Erik and Francesca, carry on his legacy. Wilbert was preceded in death by his son Sergio Zuylen.

Among his close family, he is lovingly remembered by his siblings Margriet, Frank and Geert, all of whom will miss him dearly. For his extended family in the Netherlands, he was the beloved brother-in-law and cherished Uncle Wilbert.

A talented architect and project manager, Wilbert spent many years at Walter Reed Hospital, where his expertise and vision helped shape the institution's landscape. His work was marked by integrity, commitment, and a genuine desire to improve the spaces that served others.

Wilbert also had a lifelong passion for soccer. He was an ardent supporter of PSV Eindhoven, a love that brought him countless moments of joy and camaraderie, especially when shared with family and friends. He also gave back to the sport he loved by volunteering for many years as a youth soccer coach at St. Andrew's Apostles Creed. There, he taught children the importance of teamwork and the value of good sportsmanship-lessons that extended far beyond the field.

While Wilbert's passing leaves a profound void, his memory lives on through his family, his work, and the many lives he touched. He will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering support, and steadfast commitment to those he loved.

Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Wilbert's memory.
