Mr. Wilbur Rance "Bill" Nettles

Mr. Wilbur "Bill" Rance Nettles age 82 of Keystone Heights passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka. He was born June 16, 1941, in Lake Butler to Wilbur and Inez (Thomas) Nettles and had served in the United States Air Force. Following a 33-year career with Clay Electric he began a second career with Clay County School System as a substitute teacher for the next 17 years. Mr. Bill was an active member of Gadara Baptist Church; he enjoyed going to church and his church family along with camping, and especially fishing, but his most of all his cherished times were spent with his family. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sons Ronald Harper, Jr. and Russell Nettles and siblings Melinda Nettles, Lucinda Johnson, and Julian Nettles. His survivors are Diane (Thomas) Nettles who has been the love of his life for the past 52 years; a daughter Donna McDavid (Eric Bauer) of Gainesville and a brother Wendell Nettles of Lake City. Also left behind is his daughter in-law Jill Harper, sister in-law JoAnn Briggle (Jim), brother in-law Rowan Thomas (Diane) all of Keystone Heights, and a sister in-law Melba Nettles of Lake Butler along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins that will miss him dearly. He was lovingly called "Papa" by Morgan Bader (Dan), Erika Harper, Austin McDavid (Melissa), Elliott McDavid (Kathleen) and great grandchildren Rhett McDavid and Luke Bader. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 4 – 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2024, at Gadara Baptist Church with Pastor Shawn House officiating. Interment will follow at Hall-Gadara Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Gadara Baptist Church Building Fund, 6779 CR 315C, Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
