Wilbur V. Strait

Wilbur V. Strait, age 95, of Groveport, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on September 16, 2025. Born on October 11, 1929, in Henderson, West Virginia, to the late Alvie and Rozella (Robinson) Strait, Wilbur grew up with strong family roots and a love for hard work, faith, and community.

A proud graduate of Point Pleasant High School, Class of 1949, Wilbur spent his early years working diligently on the family farm. In 1954, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served until 1956. While stationed in Germany, Wilbur discovered a love for photography-capturing the beauty of the world around him. After his military service, Wilbur built a long and steady career as a machine operator and welder in the aerospace industry. Known for his intelligence and sharp mind, he was respected by both colleagues, family, and friends.

Wilbur's faith was a cornerstone of his life. A loyal servant of God, he attended Alum Creek Baptist Church, where he was cherished for his kindness, strength, and devotion. Those who knew him remember his unwavering spirit-strong both in body and in heart. In his spare time, Wilbur enjoyed the simple joys of life: chatting on his C.B. radio, tinkering with lawnmowers, and exploring flea markets in search of hidden treasures. His curiosity and resourcefulness brought him happiness and often a smile to those who shared in his adventures.

His memory will carry on through his loving wife of 67 years, Viola (Strickland) Strait; children, Paul (Candy) Strait, Thomas (Deanna) Strait, Stephen (Karen) Strait, and Michael Strait; grandchildren, Nicole, Garrett, Christal, Aaron, Philip, and Trenton; great-grandchildren, Bexlee, Cayden and Cenedy; siblings, Robert, Louis, and Erma; nieces and Nephews, Ricky, Ellen, Keith, John, Ronnie, Bruce, Jackie, Carol, Jo-an, Michelle, and Leanne; along with numerous other friends, and loved ones.

Friends are welcome to visitation hours on Monday, September 22, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Dwayne R. Spence funeral home, 650 W Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00PM with Rev. Randy Kuhn Officiating. Interment Fernwood Cemetery.
