Wilda Collins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by J.C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel - Bowling Green on Feb. 27, 2024.
Wilda Collins, 91, passed away on February 26, 2024 in Bowling Green, Kentucky surrounded by her loving family.
Wilda was born in Marion, Kentucky on September 23, 1932, the daughter of Claude and Velda Lamb. She was preceded in death by her son Craig Collins, sister Thelma Weber and brothers Albert Lamb and James Lamb.
She went to work in 1950 for South Central Bell Telephone Company as an operator at age 18. She remained with the telephone company working in the Frame department until she retired in 1990.
In losing Wilda, the world lost one of the kindest and most generous people any of us have had the fortune of meeting. Wilda never passed up an opportunity to take care of others. She donated gallons of blood through the American Red Cross, landing her as one of the biggest donors in the entire region.
In 1999, Wilda started volunteering at Cumberland Trace Elementary, and remained an active volunteer for the next few decades. She was an involved member of a local coupon club, and was named Hometown Hero for her commitment to provide WKU students with coupons in their dorm lobbies.
Wilda also stayed busy volunteering at Forest Park Baptist Church, where she served during Vacation Bible School and Operation Christmas Child. She was a faithful member of the Scottsville Art Guild, serving as President for a decade and hosting an annual art show each fall to help encourage local artists.
Family meant everything to Wilda, and family was forever. She was never too busy to babysit, attend a performance, chauffeur a grandkid, or travel to see her loved ones.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Daniel (John); daughter-in-law Frechia Collins; and daughter-in-spirit, Alice Stiles (Rob), grandchildren Mechelle Beam (Kevin), Helen Monroe (James), Candace Glover (Russ), Clay Collins (Keturah), Katie Schuknecht (Austen), Emily LeBeau (Andy), as well as her great-grandchildren, Kayla Garrison (Noah), Vickie Mathews (Logan), Robbie Beam (Casey), Will Monroe, Bowen Monroe, Lilah Monroe, Addy Schuknecht, John and Ellie Schuknecht, and her great-great-grandchildren Ashton, Ezra and KP. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Thursday February 29, 2024 at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery II. Visitation at the funeral home will be Thursday from 10:00 am until the service time.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in loving memory of her.

When I was a young child I use to spend the night at Wilda´s home, as her daughter Carla was a dear friend to me. I have very fond memories of those days. . I am sure she will be dearly missed. May the good memories out weigh your grief.
Respectfully
